Jimmie Johnson & Ride of Your Life
As the only race car drive in history to be named Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year, and seven time NASCAR Cup Series champion, he is one of the most accomplished professional athletes of his era. It would be an honor to get into a car with someone who knows the wheel so well, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina teamed up with Jimmie to give NASCAR fans an experience of a lifetime. Jimmie Johnson surprises them, asks them trivia questions and if they successfully answer them, they get to ride in a racecar with him for the ride of their life.Challenges
There were quite a few challenges because the whole Ride of Your Life was a surprise, so the cameras had to be rigged extremely discreetly so that the passengers would actually be surprised. However, they still had to have good coverage of both the guest and of Jimmie, so doing both was not an easy feat. Moreover, at the end, the Ride of Your Life portion was a challenge because not only was it an extremely tight space, but the rigs had to be able to withstand speeds over 150 mph. The rigs had to be on extremely securely and there was no room for adjustments once the racecar got going.Gear
