Dreamworks’ Captain Underpants
Upon the release of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Move, C-mount helped Dreamworks go undercover and prank some students into believing that their classroom was haunted by ghosts. The prank consisted of a series of ominous circumstances where the smartboard would write by itself, the lights would flicker on and off and a ghost student appears at the end. Through the hidden cameras, we were able to capture the full experience of all the “ghostly” happenings, the students’ reactions and the substitute teacher. Needless to say, the kids were totally spooked for a little bit.Challenges
As another one of our hidden camera shoots, the challenges of this Captain Underpants shoot was hiding the cameras in plain sight. We used binders, plants books and the ceilings to hide the cameras so that the students, who are in there everyday, would not be able to identify them off the bat. We thought it would be a challenge given the school regulations since it was our first time working on a hidden camera projects with a team, as we were shooting at a school on a military base and one in New York. However, from coast to coast, it turns out that both the kids and the staff at both schools were extremely excited about the project. It was a great experience to be able to share the control room with the staff, as well as the producers of the project.Gear
