The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera is a miniature digital camera with a Super 16mm-sized sensor designed to be operated remotely and capture footage from virtually anywhere. The image sensor supports 1080p video up to 60 fps and 13 stops of dynamic range. The camera is equipped with an active MFT mount that can accept native MFT lens or be adapted to a wide range of other modern and vintage lenses using optional third party adapters. Video is recorded to SDHC/SDXC memory cards using the 12-bit CinemaDNG RAW format or 10-bit Apple ProRes family of codecs. Compact in size, the Micro Cinema Camera is similar in size and shape to an action camera, making it well suited for POV or drone mounts.

It features the same image sensor found in Blackmagic’s Studio Camera 4K, which supports 3840 x 2160p video up to 30 fps and 1080p video up to 60 fps. Capable of outputting uncompressed 4K UHD video, it also records up to 1080p60 in-camera at 50 Mb/s in XAVC. A Zeiss 24mm-equivalent f/4.0 lens provides a wide, but not distorted, field-of-view. Digital Cinema Cameras
To maintain ARRI’s famously rugged build quality in a small and lightweight camera, a number of unique design solutions have been incorporated. These include highly integrated and environmentally sealed electronics, a lightweight carbon housing and a solid titanium PL mount that connects directly with the new internal sensor mount to ensure a super-stable flange focal distance, even when using large lenses. Nimble in use and hardy on set, the ALEXA Mini is a go-anywhere tool, easy to transport in backpacks or as carry-on luggage. The ALEXA Mini can be operated in a number of ways: by wireless remote control, as a normal camera with the ARRI MVF-1 multi viewfinder attached, or with an on-board monitor and controlled via the user button interface on the camera body. In addition, the ALEXA Mini’s interchangeable lens mount can be replaced with any of those designed for the ARRI AMIRA, allowing the use of B4 video and EF mount stills lenses.
Red Digital Cinema’s Weapon Helium 8K S35 Monochrome Brian (PL, Standard OLPF) is built around the Helium 8K Super 35 Monochrome CMOS sensor, offering rich B&W 8K resolution in the lightweight, modular DSMC2 carbon fiber camera body. Features include a dynamic range of 16.5 stops, and the ability to record in Redcone Raw (R3D) and ProRes or DNxHR/HD simultaneously. The included carbon fiber DSMC2 Sidekick control panel, and the magnesium Red DSMC S35 PL Mount 2.0 share the WEAPON’s strong yet lightweight design. Capture B&W (monochrome) images at rates up to 60 fps in full-format 8K 8192 x 4320, or overcrank up to 75 fps in the 2.4:1 aspect ratio; additional frame rate choices include 120 fps in 4K, and up to 240 fps in 2K full format. With up to 4x greater resolution than 4K capture, and over 17x more than HD, the Weapon Helium 8K S35 provides the detail that enables cropping, re-centering, and additional tweaking in your post process while maintaining vivid, crisp imagery.
Designed for high-end cinema and video production, the Red Weapon DSMC2 cinema camera features the Dragon 6K Super-35 CMOS sensor and Redcode Raw imaging pipeline. Shooting in 6K gives the production an edge in the post process, even in 4K deliverables, as shots can be re-framed in your NLE while keeping the material at 4K resolutions, or greater. VFX artists can also benefit from the extra resolution information. Redcode Raw is the format of choice for the Weapon. Red’s versatile raw codec uses wavelet compression to reduce data rates while maintaining a visually lossless image rendering. This efficient codec can be edited on many available NLE software programs without transcoding, though if you prefer a proxy workflow, ProRes or DNx files can be recorded simultaneously to the MINI-MAG media.
The Sony PMW-F55 CineAlta 4K Digital Cinema Camera features an 8.9MP Super 35mm image sensor, capable of capturing 4K, 2K and HD resolution video in a variety of formats via the camera’s internal recorder. The F55 is among the first digital motion picture cameras with a global shutter, which completely eliminates motion skew and other “rolling” shutter distortions. Sony has designed the F55 as the foundation of an exceptionally versatile, modular system. Optional components of the F55 system include bolt-on recording units, a series of digital viewfinders, and camera support rigs. Notably, the AXS-R5 recorder¹ can be mounted onto the rear of the F55, enabling 4K and 2K 16-bit RAW recording and high speed frame rates of up to 240 fps in 2K. The Canon EOS C100 Mark II Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF is Canon’s updated version of the C100 designed for event videographers, documentarians, and independent filmmakers. It incorporates the continuous autofocus function compatible with all Canon autofocus lenses, using Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. This new feature provides faster and more accurate autofocusing to assist users when operating with small crews. The Mark II also adds a variety of upgraded features including face detection AF, MP4 recording, additional frame rates when recording in AVCHD and slow & fast motion options when recording in MP4.The HDMI output supports timecode, as does the original C100, but it also supports Canon Log LUT.
Canon’s XF105 HD Professional Camcorder is a compact, fully featured handheld video camera that imports nearly all the features and functionality of the 3-chip XF305 into a smaller, single sensor form factor. Continuing on in their legacy of powerful workhorse cameras, Canon has released the 5D Mark IV DSLR which is an outstanding still photography option and an able 4K-capable video machine. This multimedia maven offers a newly developed 30.4MP full-frame CMOS sensor paired with the DIGIC 6+ image processor in order to balance fine detail and resolution with low-light performance and sensitivity. It is able to work within a native range of ISO 100-32000, which can then be expanded to an impressive ISO 50-102400, for sharp, low-noise images in a variety of conditions. The body has been further refined for comfort and ease of access, as well as durability and weather resistance. The Canon N3 remote port has been relocated to the front of the camera body and they have added both GPS and Wi-Fi with NFC to make this model a connected camera.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR Camera is a full-frame 22.3MP DSLR featuring exceptional still image and movie recording capabilities. Integrating Canon’s DIGIC 5+ Image Processor and 14-bit A/D conversion, this camera is able to produce superbly detailed imagery with immense low-light sensitivity that is further aided by an extended ISO range up to 102400.
